Our fall program has begun and Petals-N-Belles is undergoing amazing changes! It is my pleasure to introduce the newest member of the Petals-N-Belles team Anne Francois, a bright and passionate graduate student. Anne is studying International Affairs at the New School and came across the opportunity to work with Petals-N-Belles as the Social Media Assistant.  Anne is a perfect fit, some call this luck but I believe in destiny. Please join me in welcoming her with a HUGE virtual Hug!!! Stay tuned, as she opens the door to an insiders view on our mentees. Plus the latest on the fall program, news, entertainment and fashion, as it relates to young ladies!

What is your life motto ?

My motto in life incorporates a combination of being open-minded and hard-working. Developing a wide outlook on the many perspectives in life, allows me to choose what’s best for my growth. Hard-work is my main ingredient to success professionally and personally.  My determination to achieve what is most important to me encompasses who I am!

Who is your shero?

My shero is my mother.  Unfortunately I lost my mother to breast cancer at the age of 14. The time we spent together was limited but gradually I have been able to pick up crucial life lessons along the way. In the midst of hardship and obstacles,I often ask myself “ What would my mother do and what would her advice be?” She handed down many intellectual and motivational tools, allowing me to think quickly, find solutions and look at the bigger picture. Growing up without a mother in the latter part of my life has been at times a detriment, but it also has allowed me to seek a better understanding of myself as a young woman.  I am drawn to emulating the milestones that my mother created for herself. I would like to use my achievements to help the lives of young women. My mother’s constant determination to succeed in all aspects of life is overwhelmingly aspirational and sets a template for my continued growth.

What is your favorite quote?

My favorite quote comes from a song; it is very brief but impacts how I view life. The quote is “We all take different paths in life, but no matter where we go, we take a little of each other with us.” It speaks to the notion that the people we come across are essentially vital to the person we become. I believe we teach each other and learn from the experiences of others.

On a rainy windy day, what is your idea of fun?

On a rainy day, I love to catch up on a variety of my favorite television shows, from True Blood to Girlfriends!  Being able to relax for a few hours a day indoors gives me some time to take a break from my current school load.

What token of advice would you like to offer young women?

I would tell young women that your life is yours to mold and yours alone.  Maintain relationships with people who have positive motives. Use your intelligence and wit to make the right decisions. Fill your jar with self-confidence and on days that you are running low…be a little sassy. When you feel connected to a person, don’t take it lightly; they can become your mentor, teacher, best friend and so much more.

I would like to thank Petals-N-Belles for this opportunity and I look forward to taking this journey with the girls!

Best,

~Anne
